Hi !

Today, I had a small issue where my laptop made a very high pitched sound, and I had to force it to turn off to stop. Since then, the meta (super, win or "slimbook/tux") key does not seem to be responding (if I run wep, the key doesn't get registered).

At the same time, I realised that my fn keys map to their media functions (changing screen brightness, sound etc). Using the F-keys still works when pressing on Fn, but the Fn-lock toggle in the BIOS (which I recently updated to the latest version) does not apply the lock (I still have to press Fn event if it's on).

If someone has a clue as to what the issue could be, I am all ears !

Quick update, pressing f2 disables the super-key lock, fixing the Meta-key issue. The fn-row issue still persists, I'll update if I find a solution.

Turns out it absolutely wasn't a Slimbook problem: I, by mistake, changed my keyboard settings to a 105-keys keyboard instead of 104 in my KDE plasma settings. Now my Fn row registers as function keys just like it used to !

If somebody has the same issue, first, enable the visual indicator for non-default settings in the menu in the settings app, then go to Keyboard and change the keyboard model to the default 104 key Generic PC.
