Does the Excalibur 16 support "Power Path Management" and bypass charging?

Avatar

Good Afternoon,

I would like to know if the Slimbook Excalibur 16 has a Power Path Management. When the battery reaches 100%, does the system draw power directly from the AC adapter (bypassing the battery)? And if so can it be configured in BIOS to set up limit at 80%?

Furthermore, once the battery is fully charged and the laptop is powered off but still plugged in, does the Charge Controller completely terminate the current to prevent overcharging?

Best Regards.

Good morning, David
There's no battery limit option in the BIOS

The excalibur has implemented the SmartBattery system, you can find more information about it here: https://slimbook.com/en/blog/guides-2/post/smartbattery-what-is-it-and-how-does-it-work-396

Regarding the overcharging prevention, this laptop the SmartLimit feature of SmartBattery should stop charge when the battery is fully charged

Good morning.

Thanks for the response. Since there is no BIOS option to set a percentage limit that force the laptop to use the AC when it is charged up to a certain I assumed your official application should do the trick. Since it has a slider for us to limit the battery.

However, and although I was able to install it in my Archlinux, it seems to not be able to switch modes neither limit the charge. It is only able to change the laptop brightness based on the mode.

Best Regards.

Good morning, David

slimbookbattery interferes with TLP/power-profiles/modern battery optimisations from several Desktop Environments and is pretty much outdated for current use
With TLP you can set a battery threshold, see here: https://linrunner.de/tlp/settings/battery.html
